Lasek surgery

What is lasek?

Lasek, also called Elsa, is a newer method of surgery and treats nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism. When undergoing a Lasek surgery a small flap of the outer parts of the cornea is opened after it has been softened by a drop of alcohol solution. After the laser surgery is done the flap is gently pushed back into place.

This surgery is easier than lasik and takes less time. Lasek surgery reduces the risk of complications but on the other hand it takes more time for the eye to recover fully. The patient can see clearly after about two weeks but will need to take eye drops for several weeks.

It is possible to add wavefront to lasek surgery.

Who is lasek surgery for?

If you want to get rid of your glasses or contact lenses and fulfill the requirements, then you might be a good candidate for a lasek surgery.
