Arrival day

Our guides from Türkiye Hospital will welcome you just outside Istanbul airport. They will be holding up a sign saying "Perfect Vision". They will then take you straight to the hotel and after the hotel check-in, the staff will inform you about the schedule for the coming days. You will receive information about when and where you'll be during your stay together with phone numbers to the guides.

Treatment day

From the time you get to the eye clinic it will take about two hours before you're done. If you use hard lenses dont wear them at least 30 days before your lasik treatment. If you use soft contact lenses you shouldn't wear them a week before the lasik treatment. Use your glasses instead.

In some cases a last eye examination will be done and then you get a soothing pill which will help you relax. The results from the pre-examination will be controlled by an eye doctor who will also program the laser with your values. The doctor explains the different steps and what you should bear in mind afterwards. You get to wear a hospital uniform and then you will be washed around your eyes.

When you enter the treatment room you will get some eye drops, which will numb your eyes for the next hours. A cloth will be placed over your face and your eye lashes will be taped so that they wont get in the way. To get a clear treatment area and so you wont blink during the treatment, an eyelid holder will be used. It can feel uncomfortable in the beginning but after a short while you wont even know its there.

A special vacuum ring is placed over the eye and after just twelve seconds a thin flap of the cornea is made and is folded back. You might feel a light pressure against the eye and during the actual laser treatment you wont see anything. After just one minute the treatment is done and the flap is put back in place where it will attach itself. Since vision recovery is very fast, everyone can have the treatment on both eyes at the same time.

After the treatment you get some eye drops and a temporary bandage. When everything is done, you get to sit and relax in a private room for about half an hour. When the bandage is taken off the doctor will examine your eyes and after that you will be given a small bottle of eye drops to use the next ten days. Use dark sunglasses until the post-examination is made.

When the anastesia wears off the eye might sting and tear a little but it goes away within a few hours. Most people feel little or no discomfort.

Post examination

The day after the treatment your eyes are examined and your vision is tested. Most patients have by now vision acceptable for driving.

The first three days after the treatment you should avoid soap, mascara and rubbing your eyes. Be sure to use sunglasses when in sun light. Stay away from bathing in swimming pools the first two weeks. In purpose of precaution and for faster healing of your eyes you will receive eye drops which you should use for ten days after the treatment.

The guided tour around Istanbul is a one-day tour and we'll visit many historic places like the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, the Grand Bazaar and different museums. In the evening the group will dine at a restaurant and have a taste of real turkish cuisine. (Turkish cuisine is considered to be third in the world)
